a {DAY} in the life...

This is the Day Family (i know, sneaky title)... they are some of my most FAVORITE people. 2 1/2 yrs ago we bought our first home and a month later this cute little family moved into the ward. We clicked. At the time we both had one kid each, both boys a couple months apart... they clicked too:) We started to do storytime during the week, game night on weekends, sunday dinners, babysitting swap, celebrate birthdays together and even the first ones to meet each others new additions to the family... again boys for both:) To say that she is a good friend is an understatement, she is one of the best.

The sad thing is she is moving very far away this friday. Tears have been shed... many tears. HOWEVER this is such a good move for her and her family. When I can stop crying long enough, I can feel my excitement for them. For their going away gift I did their family pictures... Aren't they such a gorgeous family!

"Where does the time go?" I think every mother think that when their child has another BiRtHdAy. My little man Mason just turned 3!!! He such a little man and is growing up to be such a smart, determined, loving kid.... with a little kick:) I couldn't be more proud to be his mama. We went out to take his 3 yr old shots and decided to throw a few of little brother in there too because well he just too cute not to:) Mason was true to who he was and gave us every expression imaginable in a 20 min window! He was hiliarous the whole shoot... gotta love him!

The camera LOVED this girl! She was so natural and beautiful!

I used to babysit Jazmyn 15 yrs ago and haven't seen her since then. I was blown away when I saw how much she had grown up but not surprised in the least of how pretty she was. She was what you call a 'gorgeous baby'.

It was so fun to see her and her family again. I hope you like your pictures Jazmyn, Good Luck with your Senior Year!

I love many things about my job but one of my favorites is it gives me a reason to see family and or friends I haven't in a long time. This was one of those sessions. This is my moms cousin John and his wife Heather. The lived next door to us when I was growing up. The last time I saw them they were newlyweds with one sweet baby girl named Jazmyn. 15 yrs later Jazmyn is all grown up and has two brothers and a little sister! It was SO good to see them! I really adore my Jeppson side. I grew up surrounded by them and so many of my memories of with that side!

Thanks for having me do your pictures Heather. Your family was amazing! It was so good to see all of you:)

I'm sure this little family looks familiar:) They are on my blog every year! This is my sister Jamie and her cute little family.... well maybe it's not so little anymore. It grows every year:)

I'll be honest this was one of the hardest shoots I've done, haha. I've been doing this for five yrs now so I've gotten a little bit of a groove when I do shoots... however when I have to bring my kids along that groove goes right out the window!!!! Please note I would NEVER take my kids along a professional shoot;) My husband was hunting and I was staying at my sisters for the weekend so we thought it would be a perfect time for pictures... When we realized we didn't have a sitter out where she lived, we thought how bad can it be bring an extra 3 old yr and 18 month along? WOW! Dumbest thought of the year!

We sweated, yelled, laughed and when we realized her kids as well as mine were just not in the mood for a full shoot eventually gave up. haha.

Hopefully we got something, even if it's not my finest work, their too cute to make a picture not look good!

(some of the kids were taken the next day in her backyard when the kids were in a better mood:)

This beauty is my lovely sister ~~in-law~~ we never really used the whole in-law thing. Her name is Melissa, aka Missy and she married a boy named Dave. She is smart, beautiful & spiritual.... He is also smart, handsome and spiritual but he is also very, very funny! Which I love! He is so good to her and that is so important to us, so we happily welcome him to this crazy family:)

I love this lady and it was honor to be apart of their wedding:)

This Gorgeous Gal is Barbara. I had the pleasure of doing her family pictures last year and this year she need a different kind of shoot... Let me explain... Barb is an AMAZING singer, she has been working on her craft for years and has worked along side some pretty awesome people. She is launching her music website soon and needed some shots for it! I was so excited to get this beautiful girl behind the camera. Like most people she wasn't all to comfortable being the only subject in the frame but she did amazing! Her music is light, LDS and inspirational and she wanted a shoot to reflect that. So..... this is what we got:)

Last month I was finally able to fulfill a dream of mine: Vist New York! It's just one of those places I've always wanted to go. My in-laws are currently serving their mission in Rochester, NY so we got to visit them first and experience the BEAUTIFUL country there... then go on to New York City (those pictures are coming up next!)

Meet Melissa & Dave... I am lucky enough to have Missy as my sister in-law, but we just go as sisters! She is one of the most humble and giving people I know. She is smart, beautiful and so kind... she now has found someone deserving of all her qualities.. because he has them too! I'm so happy for these two and we are so excited to have Dave join our family! He recently went to New York with our whole family and traveling with anyone for a week lets you get to know the REAL them;) He still wants to be apart of our family so more power to him!

It's in NY that he made it official when he puposed to Melissa in sacred grove... aww! I know, cute right! Melissa grew up visiting NY every summer and the Grove means a lot to her and he knew that so took her on a walk and decided to do it in the place that meant the most to her! I photograph a lot of couples and honestly it's always fun, however it's rare you get a couple that is so very comfortable with each other and that go in their own little world while shooting and your just along for the ride:) It was a pleasure!

We decided since their wedding date was going to be in four weeks since we got home we would take advantage of the INCREDIBLE SCENERY all around us in Rochester and do their enagements there!

Can I just say, i need to live there! I have never ever seen a prime shooting location on EVERY SINGLE corner as i did there! AW!

I tried and tried, but this is as {small} as I could get the post... waaay too many good ones:)

I was so happy when my old friend Monica from our days in California, contacted me to do their family pictures while they were in Utah visiting family. Trevor is in the Air Force and deploys in a few shots months so they wanted some recent family ones before he left! This family was so easy to shoot and Monica is always a good time!

Last month I went to Texas to visit my big brother and his family. While I was there we did a family shoot! So glad we did... their family is always gorgeous and we end up having such a good time! ....even when I had to pee and the only bathroom in the town was out of order... good times:)

This handsome little man belongs to me... I am one lucky mama.

It has been so fun to watch him grow out of his innocent baby stage to a little man with a whole lot of fiestiness when he wants something.... (okay so not always fun, haha. sometimes I miss the go with the flow baby:) Fiesty or not, I'll take him! He has SO much personality for that little body of his! He cracks me up everyday with one of the many faces he pulls.

He has brought so much happiness to our home and to my heart! I love him more than words can say!

She is one of my sister's dear friends and is someone I had the pleasure of meeting yrs ago and just connected with right off the bat! She is amazing, strong and dedicated to her children. Hi Happy Monday!

I love, love, love senior sessions! This beautiful girl is Mikel. She's a YW in my ward and I so excited when she asked me to do her senior pictures! She's an amazing dancer and believe it or not she's never had a serious boyfriend! In one of the outfit changes she pulled out her YW's medallion she just earned a few months ago and asked to get a few pictures with it! I just smiled. It was good to see young women like this still exist:) I hope there are a few left when my boys grow up! Mikel it was so fun to do your pictures and I must say you were very easy to photograph:)

One thing about my job that I love is I get to take pictures of my own family every year... this is my beautiful sister Cassie and her four adorable kids, Rylee, Brage, Teag & Taelyn. One blessing that came from my years of inferititly was the time I got with these guys! My sister's were so kind to {share} their families with me, I honestly never took for granted being an aunt... i still don't! I love them like their my own. They still come for sleepovers even now that I have my own.. that will never change! Cassie is my oldest sister and has been through more in her 30 yrs than one should have too. She a strong, beautiful women and such an amazing mom! I have always admired her and I'm so lucky to consider her one of my very, very best friends. There's next to nothing I could tell her that would make her step back... she never judges, she's just always there. I love you {soul} sister, thanks for letting me shoot you and your kiddos!

Teag is all boy! Rough, tough and destructive:) haha! He also has a really tender heart and can't handle if he really hurt someone. When he's in trouble his bottom lip sucks you in everytime! This gorgeous 8 yr old is Ry. She definitely is breath taking so you might not believe it when I told you she grew up far different than most little girls... instead of dress ups & high heels Ry was in the back yard digging for bugs or in her room doing a puzzle. She steadily worked on a 100 piece puzzle at five years old until she got it. When she got bored with the baby puzzles she'd turn over the pieces and do the card board side to make it more of a challenge. She was the first grankid, so naturally she won all of us over in a matter of minutes after being born. She has always been independent, beautiful and such a good helper! I love you Bug a boo!

This wedding was one that was more than just my job, because this beautiful Bride is my husband sister Lilley, which would technically make her my sister-in-law but we dropped the 'in-law' at day two! So meet my sister Lilley and her new handsome man, Michael. You may remember them from their engagements...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I was blessed with the best in-laws.. .the oh-so funny in-law jokes just don't apply to me... I'm glad they do to someone cause they are the ones that usually make me laugh the hardest:) .... anyway. So this gal is one of my best friends. We are only days apart in age and she has always been there for me. It has been so neat to see her find her match and fall head over heels. Mike is such a humble and genuine guy. We are so happy to welcome him into this crazy family of ours. They go so well together and he adores the ground she walks on... which lets face it, is a GREAT way to start:) I'll be very honest in saying on this day I wasn't entirely on my 'game' professionally. My youngest son had just gotten out of the hospital from his accident just a few days before and it was the first time I was away from him so my mind was 'distracted' however she was too beautiful to make the picture not look good. It was a pleasure to be apart of their day!

Sheesh! This wedding was almost a month ago.... So sorry it's taken me so long J&R! With Christmas, hosting family and then unfortunately my youngest son having an accident that put him in the hospital for a few days, this wedding hasn't gotten posted. Ugh! Life, I tell ya. My son is now so awsomely doing better so I have a moment to post one of my favorite couples........

You may remember them from their groomals that I did a little bit ago... their wedding was a few days after Christmas and well it was a day to remember for everyone:) I have never driven in an actual blizzard until that day. I'm soo glad my hubby came along, I would have driven myself into a ditch with all the other cars we passed. Normally I would have never even attempted to drive in this weather however it was my couples wedding day and that was worth a try. Along with their family and friends, we all made our way down to Manti with a prayer in our hearts. At some points we literally couldn't see the road in front of us, however the Lord got everyone there okay:) No one died which some of us thought we might:) haha.

It was bitter cold! I mean seriously in the teens with a fierce, fierce wind that made your bones shake. Can I just tell you how big of troopers this couple was?! I would have cried if this happened on my wedding day because their was NO way we could get the typical wedding day temple pictures with the amount of snow on the ground and the wind... however the bride just laughed as we attempted it and said "this is Crazy!" I honestly admired her so much! She was glowing and so in love, you would have no known the weather surrounding her:) So even though we didn't capture the 'typical' pictures, they got some unique ones that definitely have a story to tell:) This couple was so positive and in love and just as I said while doing their groomals, they are one of the funniest couples I've ever done. They kept everyone laughing. They genuinely enjoyed their day and everyone that was there. They were madly in love and the way Jordon looked at her made you think no one else was in the room. And I'll be honest church house reception's are generally not my favorite soley because their is little you can do to get good lighting in there (it's always has a yellow tint) however they did such an amazing job decorating that space, it was probably the prettiest church reception I've ever seen! I loved the colors and style!

It was a pleasure to be apart of their big day! Congrats Mr & Mrs {D}

Meet Jordon & Rachel... Rachel is the little sister of my cute hubby's highschool sweetheart:) Oh la la! Her name is Kristen and we ADORE her! She kept my Seth out of trouble in highschool so for that I am forever indebted and liked her right from the start:) haha. She referred her mom & sister to my work and they choose me to be Rachel wedding photographer! Weddings are my favorite! I have two this winter and even though we got a taste during this shoot of how FREEZING it's going to be on the big day, I'm so excited and so blessed to have people invest in my work! Rachel has to be one of the funniest brides I've ever shot. She was cracking up the whole time, which made me instantely comfortable around her... And jordon well he's in love with Rachel... no doubt about that. Just watching him watch her, made me smile. They were both troopers in the cold and the whole bull incident... yes we made our way out to a lovely barn in the field where we started to get some shots when a BULL came out from behind the barn... we all laughed nervously and continued... well after a few minutes he decided he didn't like us there and charged us.. a wee bit scary is an understatement. We decided the pretty barn wasn't worth it and clamly left the field:) haha. I've gotten clients stung by bee's and now charged by a bull, I should have a disclamer!

This is just a SMALL portion of my favorites... so many shots turned out. So I thought I'd share. I am so HAPPY for you Rachel & Jordon!

.... and if this couple wasn't cute enough... he proposed ON A STAGE DURING A CHOIR CONCERT at their college!

Meet Adam, Lauren and the amazingly cute Liberty, who goes by Libby! This is the second year I've been able to shoot this awsome family. Lauren and I both grew up in the oh so BIG town of Toquerville:) She saw this location in some pictures and hunted it down. haha. It was an awsome location and it was so fun to see them again. The title might miss lead you not in the fact I felt "aw, she's all grown up" as I shot these pictures.... but that she's younger than me because to be exact she's three days older than me:) This is Lael, known to me and many as Lilley, Lael Lou, Laeluber (yes, that came from me), etc.... and she is my husbands little sister. We are only days apart however we've always had very different paths in life.. Me: Married, Kids. Her: Mission, School. Both rewarding paths just different so it didn't ever really feel like we were the same age. Yet we still totally got along. I've looked up to her as well as felt the need to protect and take care of her. To me she's my little/big sister:) I love her dearly! I have always felt a connection with her from day one... okay maybe day two. The first day i met her i went to one of her college basket games and she was playing against one of their biggest rivals, and well she terrified me! Day two, I met one of the most genuine and accepting girls I've ever had the pleasure of knowing... lucky me she later became my sister.

She has found that one that fits beside her perfectly. His name is Mike! I was honored to do their engagments. Do let these pictures fool you it was FREEZING!!! And their lucky because i still have California in my blood and I don't bare that kind of cold for just anybody;) It was easier than feared because we had a whole crew with us: missy, em & ty (sister, sister & boyfriend to littlest sister and lets face it.... future inlaw himself:) yes, she'll kill me if she reads this... love you Em! to help warm up the shoot by never letting us stop laughing. It was such a freezing fun Sunday! I think they turned out so cute because they were so into each other. Mike & Lilley you know how much we adore you both. I wish the world for you two.

One thing I absolutely love about my job is the people I get to meet and hang out with! This is Barb, she is one of my sister's dearest friends so I had the pleasure of knowing her before the shoot. However after we got attacked by bee's (Yes BEES people) we were much closer:)! (they stung me and two of the little kids in less than a minute, it was crazy! They were swift little buggers!) This is Tami and her cute little family, Jay & Peyton. Tam is my sister Jamie's very best friend, therefore she has become like another family member to me. She is one of the most genuine and caring people I know. Jay is hilarious and peyton is SO cute and looks just like her Mommy:) Tami's family is very special to me, they are going through the process to adopt for first time they really want a second child and are hoping to be blessed by adoption. Tams went through quite the journey to bring little Peyton into this world. Lets just say we're very blessed they both made it. The whole time I was shooting their family I kept thinking how neat it was to see them where there at now, as a family. Corny I know, but seeing Tami during her prengnancy was something I'll never forget. She made me really see that being pregnant (which I desperately wanted it at the time) wasn't always so easy. And that those who I thought were SO lucky to get pregnant had to go through extremely HARD times to become a mom too. Anyway Tam taught me a lot and I don't even think she knows it. I love her to death. She has been there for my sister in ways I can never thank her. It was my honor to do her photo's:)

I'm so backed up on posting my shoots but I know this family is waiting for a "preview" so I had to sneak 2 in....

This was probably the largest {in number} shoot I've ever done. I think we counted 47 people? It was crazy and fun. Everybody was a good sport:) Tami is one of the daughters and she is my sister's very best friend so it was fun to be able to shoot with her and FAMILY:)

Can I just say "WOW" I truly could not get enough of this couple.... hence the reason there is SOOO many pictures in this post, that, and the grooms family lives out of state and won't be able to see them right away so I wanted to post them for the {B} family as well.

You may recognize this beautiful couple from their engagements and Ashley's bridals

As I mentioned in earlier post's Ashley is my 2nd cousin. Not the kind you never saw, but the one you grew up with next door to for 15 yrs, then move away from and not see each other for a handful of years! So needless to say shooting her wedding was a treat for so many reasons: i missed her, i missed her hilarious family, the groom and his family were amazing, i got to shoot the reception in the backyard that I grew up in & most of all because these two have a love and that 'thing' between them unlike any other couple I shot. They literally were in their own world all day. There was a TON of people surrounding them throughout the entire day and they were just in-tune with each other. They were always laughing or stealing kisses. I had to whip my camera out to catch some of cutest candid moments. They hardly needed to be posed... seriously some of the neatest shots were when I was talking to their parents or something and turned around and saw them making the perfect picture! Needless to say I adore them. It was a long and exhausting day for everyone but their energy kept everyone going. It was a delight to be apart of this day.

You can see love between a couple and think it will really last or you can just quit your betting on some couples cause there's no doubt and well I have no doubt for them, I don't think anyone else does either... they just have it.

so glad you two found each other..........

It was perfect... the details were amazing. Personally, you just can't beat a outside, green, natural reception. Especially in a backyard like this:)

Meet Todd, Jamie, Amaiya, Marlee & Treyvin.... Jamie is my best friend that just happens to be my beautiful big sister... and this is her cute family.

Family shoots in general can be hard work with juggling the kids and pleading with them to cooperate, however the hard work is rewarded with extreme laughter when you do your own siblings family pictures because the pleading with the children goes out the window in 5 mins and the demands and threats (in a hiliraous non abusive way, haha:) kick in.

After nearly an hour the parents give up on trying to do this:

Oh Mya! I love this girl! This is my beautiful niece that I had the honored of her being named after me {Amaiya Lacey}. I've done her newborn photo's, 1 yr olds, 2 yr olds and now three yr olds and throughout this process me and her mom learned ONE thing, she is probably the cutest little girl full of the most outgoing personality BUT you don't tell her what to do, especially if it's 'sit there and SMILE' haha, her stubbornness may or may not be after her namesake:) ... Anyway this year we let her do her own thing and finally SUCCESS!

Meet Whit & Dustin {C} Their wedding day was a few weeks ago and let me tell you what... it was so HOT! However the heat was worth sticking out for this beautiful couple. Seriously check out whits eyes and cheek bones: BEAUTY! Whit was dying of heat in her dress and I made Dustin break his bouqet flower thing on his jacket by doing so crazy jump, haha, but they both were so cute together and glowing it almost didn't matter to them. I had the honor of attending their sealing as well and it made it that much neater to photograph them afterward. Her colors were perfect and her whole day was amazing! Congrats you two:)

Beautiful brides like Ashley are what make my job so easy at times! I got to shoot with her last Wednesday and it was so fun because A: Ash is breath taking and B: because her mom which is my Aunt Sharon joined us and it was just like the good old days. I adore this family:) I can't wait for her wedding next wedding and for Ian {the lucky groom} to see his bride in this stunning dress!

And yes there is a MILLION posted not only because she's gorgeous but because she is at her parents and needs to pick some out to print in time and doesn't have her cd...

Princess? Yes! However don't let that fool you. She is also a huge dare devil and completely fearless. This little beauty jumped off a 25ft. waterfall over the 4th of july weekend with a very few adults that dared too! She is so out going and such a good help with her younger siblings. I got this in my mail today.... it makes me smile everytime something I photographed and designed comes in the mail via announcement, invitation or christmas card... I'm not HUGE but I am living my little dream on the side:) I love my clients and I thank you allowing my dream job to continue:)

IAN {hearts} ASHLEY

Enjoyment does not even describe this shoot! This was probably one of the funnest couples I've ever done. They were so in love, it made it incredibly easy to capture on camera. Ian would just get stuck staring at Ashley or giving her a kiss without any directing..... AH! Young Love! It's what inspired me to do photography in the first place! Along with being in love, this couple was so insanely funny! I can't remember the last night I laughed like that on a shoot. Between Ian NOT smiling, Ashley closing her eyes & Ian being so worried about bird poop on his pants I could not stop laughing! The best thing about this shoot was I've know ashley since the day she was born basically. Not only is my cousin she was one of my best friends growing up. We grew up next door to each other for 15 yrs. The embarrassing picture's I have of our crimped hair, matching purple outfits and trampoline routines would put anyone to shame:) haha. I was so honored to be asked to photograh her engagements {I'm so excited for her Bridals in July and then Wedding in August!} I am more than happy to see she found someone like Ian. He is so funny, pretty darn cute and most importantly adore's her:) She deserves it!

Oh and get this, they met in History Class! {CUTE}

This beautiful girly is my sister Jaymee. 'love her' simply does not explain it.... She is one of a kind. You know exactly what I'm talking about if you know her. No worries, it's a good thing, a great thing actually:) Jaym is the sister that is closest to me in age, so she got stuck being "the little ones" with me growing up which she didn't love... but I think I eventually grew on her. This baby bump she is carrying is her third child and her first boy. He is due 12 months behind her last daughter... SURPRISE:) haha. She is nervous but I think... I KNOW she will do amazing. Jaym, doesn't know how good of a mom she is. Neurotic? Maybe a little;) Incredible? Absolutely!

We've been meaning to do a maternity shoot when she got far enough along (because she is claiming this her last baby however I'm praying it's not:) however with life being as crazy as it is we just haven't gotten around to it. When I was at her house last week throwing her a baby shower we realized she was due in a month and I might not see her again so we ran in her back yard literally 10 mins before the party started and shot a few. So granted this is in her backyard, in a span of like 10 mins and not with my good lens (didn't have it with me)... I still think it turned out cool. Besides she is too beautiful and pregnancy is too amazing not to turn out okay:)

Aw! I loved this couple! This just might be one of my favorite shoots so far. This pretty gal is my cousin Whitney. We grew up together however I haven't seen her in 5 yrs so I was thrilled when she chose me as her wedding photographer! She is engaged to this handsome man, Dustin. They drove all the way down from Wyoming to get their pictures done and I must say I LOVE how they turned out! The lighting was perfect, the location was awsome and they were so cute together!

Hello!

I've had some of you in the lovely Southern Utah ask next time I will be down South and avaliable for photo shoots so I just wanted to inform everyone I will be down visiting my family in Southern Utah over Easter Weekend {April 4}... Since it's a holiday and I spent my last trip entirely on shoots I will only be doing a limited number of session to allow of plenty of time with the fam, however I am willing to stay til Monday or Tuesday to fit people in if need be. So let me know if your interested:)
